Bexy Boo is shortlisted in the British Small Business Awards
After reading a fantastic blog on the Forum of Private Business website, I was inspired to enter the British Small Business Awards. (Click here to read the blog written by Ben Lobel) Having spent numerous nights filling in the 2,000 word application form, I began to think ‘What am I doing all this for when my list of things to do is already huge’. But whilst I persevered through all the questions, I began to realise I had a lot to say and a lot to share:
-Last year I was nominated for 2 categories for the Henries and won the best Hand-made for my Scrabbley Neons.
-I won Best Start up Business in Cheshire.
-I was personally asked by our then Rt Hon Chancellor George Osborne, to represent the Northern Power house and be apart of the Small Business Saturday held at the Treasury drum. I also received a hand written Christmas card form him too.
-My family and I visited Downing Street where we had a personal tour around number 10 and number 11.
-I also turned 40 (that I didn’t mention)
So when I received the phone call to say that I had been shortlisted, I cartwheeled down the most beautiful beach in Skiathos and drank a mojito or 5 to celebrate!
600+ micro businesses entered the category of Best micro business which consists of 2-9 employees and only 9 were shortlisted.
As Ben Lobel says in his British Small Business blog ‘The companies shortlisted have all demonstrated impressive revenues and an approach to their sector that sets them apart from their peers. It’s an exciting time to be a business of this size…. companies are small and agile enough to respond quickly to changes in the market but developed enough to be established and respected in their sector. Companies of this size are well placed for growth and we are confident the candidates in our shortlist are on the road to bigger things’.

So the British Small Business Awards will be taking place on October 20th at the Grand Connaught Rooms, Covent Garden, London. It looks super fancy so I guess my Hubbie and I had better scrub up so we look the part and enjoy what I am sure will be, a fantastic evening.
Bye for now
